Dubravka Vidović (b.1970, Zadar, Croatia) lived in Shanghai for more than 10 years and returned to Milan in 2020. She graduated in painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan in the class of Professor Luciano Fabro. In 1999 she was admitted to the Advanced Course in Visual Arts at Foundation Ratti in Como with visiting professor Haim Steinbach. Vidović’s work consists of installations, photography, assemblages and video. She prefers to work on a specific context, translate the reality of the world into a voice, a reflection, to turn art quest into an act of poetry. To her, photography is conceived as a transformative space, arranging ephemeral interventions and installations before taking shots she captured her formae mentis, the contents she wants communicate. She posits her characters within the space of metaphors where the landscape is not only an objective phenomenon, but also a new and personal place. Sometimes her sources are old photographs and documents where she appropriates forms and characters, through a procedure of re-contextualization assigning them new meanings.
